Handling Heartburn

Apparently Heartburn is common in pregnancy but its one of those symptoms that can get very irritating and uncomfortable. Although heartburn cannot be eliminated entirely, there are a few things that can minimize heartburn. Here's the list:

  • Avoid food & drinks that can make it worse, i.e. Spicy Food, Citrus Juices, Chocolate.
  • Eat small meals frequently
  • Eat small mouthfuls and chew food properly
  • Do not smoke
  • Keep an upright posture, especially after eating
  • Eat at least 3 hours before bedtime
  • Sleep in a propped up position
  • Don't wear tight clothes
  • Do not bend over, always bend at knees.

Teaching Every Child to Read

I attended a Talk the other day at Orchid Garden Hotel with my sister in laws and it was hosted by Pengiran Dr. Rahmah of LEAPS Educational Services. At the Dinner/Talk, Pg Dr. Rahmah introduced to us Ms. Rita Dunn, the author of Teaching Every Child to Read.

Dr. Rita Dunn talked to us about the different learning styles there are and how each human being adapts to one certain style. There are different factors relating to ones learning style which all can be found in the book.

Interested parties should take a trip to LEAPS Educational Services, Unit 2-4, 1st Floor, Hassanin Complex, Delima Satu, Berakas to purchase the book.

P/S: All children are welcome to be tested on what kind of learning style they can adapt to for a little fee.

Baby Einstein

Thanks to my sister in law, I have been introduced to Disney's Baby Einstein which was founded by a Julie Clark. This product is especially designed to encourage discovery and inspire new ways for parents and little ones to interact. It also offers a wide range of developmentally appropriate products for babies and toddlers.

Baby Einstein products are created from a baby's point-of-view and incorporate a unique combination of real world objects, music, art, language, poetry and nature. This simply provides us parents the opportunity to introduce the world to our little ones in a playful and enriching way.

What really got me into Baby Einstein DVD's and to actually start googling it, was my husbands nephew, Aqiel. An adorable two year old who spoke as if he was already 4 years old. The words he spoke were perfect and round. No baby talk. I could absolutely understand him. This little miracle has baby Einstein DVD's to thank for. His mummy put the DVD's on everyday and he learnt from there. So, here's the list of DVD's from the Baby Einstein collection that I plan to purchase before Baby A arrives.

Week 26

My dearest peanut,

How's my munchkin doing today? I bet u feel much much better than on Saturday. Mummy had a touch of food poisoning and I'm sure it must of got to you too. Kesian my baby. Mummy promise not to go to that Murtabak shop anymore kay love. I put it down to the chicken curry that came with the Roti telur. That night mummy felt like she was going to give birth and I think I must of gave ur daddy a bit of a scare coz he kept on saying "Shall I call mummy? Do u want me to call mummy?" Of course, ur grandma would of been resting and I don't think she could of helped much despite her being very knowledgeable in the medicine world. She would of just told me to go to the hospital. But mummy sucked it in and stuck it out until the cramps subsided. Thank God it went away. Maybe this episode will teach you to be a strong baby and bear pain AND if you're lucky, you might just inherit mummy's tolerance for pain :)

At mummy's last appointment at the clinic all went well until I weighed my self. Mummy has put on a considerably large amount of weight. Within two months mummy gained 8 kilos, thats twice of what I should gain in that amount of time. So, its the GTT test again for mummy. Sigh! Results are out tomorrow so I have to pay another visit to the clinic. Last week we had to do the Ultra sound again since I didn't drink enough water the last time. Doc said that ur of normal growing size so it must be mummy's weight thats been ballooning like crazy. Oppss!

We've attended the seminar on "How to teach your child to read" with ur daddy's sisters at OGH the other night which proved to be a positive thing for mummy to attend. Apparently every child learns in a different way (Tell me something I don't know) so when ur out here and the time comes to start reading, mummy will hafta start experimenting on the different channels/ways of learning that u will feel comfortable with and can easily adapt to. Mummy is soooo getting into this mummy/teacher role coz I even bought the book written by Rita Dunn.

On Sunday night as well as last night we watched daddy play football. Seems like the atmosphere of a football field really gets you going coz as mummy sat there I kept on feeling you kick. It was as if you were imagining you were the one on the field..hehehe...could u be a boy?

Tonight, ur daddy and I might go and watch the basketball match at the indoor stadium. An introduction for you to the world of Basketball. Prepare yourself sayang for the noise and the shouting (Most probably coming from ur daddy). If all goes well, this sunday we'll be meeting with uncle ewan & auntie izzah at the beach. Our last picnic before the Ramadhan month starts. Mummy will only be able to enjoy the scenery. Sigh....definitely won't be able to play on the beach buggy's....

Anyhoo sweetums, until next time mummy writes...love u loads.
