Five Months Old

"My Sweet Cherry Blossom"

Dear Baby Mia,

Time has flown by too fast. Today you turn 5 months old. Another 1 more month and you'll be 6 months...that will be the time when mummy will start weaning you and you can have a taste of big-people food. But for now my love, you will still have milk, okay.

This morning, you received two very special visitors, your Aunt Mimi and Kaka Arisha. They came and spent some time with you and kept you busy while mummy did some laundry. Then we spent the afternoon with your auntie mama, getting her ready for the arrival of little Hef. We went to Mothercare, Hua Ho and two furniture stores. Mummy spotted a nice mirror for your room which I might just get next week.

As for your development, well, the first thing mummy realizes is that you are producing more and more saliva, teething is probably just around the corner. You can now roll over while you are sleeping and one thing you do nowadays is open your arms out, try to grab onto mummy or daddy's fingers and stand up. Thats all you prefer doing nowadays, try to stand up. I keep on telling daddy not to encourage you to stand yet. You need to learn to crawl, which you can nearly do. You need to be put on tummy time more often.

Although you found your feet a couple of weeks ago, only recently have you mastered putting your feet in your mouth. According to superstition, that means another baby is on the way so everytime daddy sees you do that, he'll say "No..." and pull your toes out of your mouth. Mummy really can't get over how smart you are though. A couple of nights ago, after putting you to sleep, mummy went out to buy some DVD's and left you at home with your nanny. Unfortunately you woke up and started crying. Your nanny said that although she attended to you, you still cried until daddy came into the room and held you. Suddenly you just stopped crying and started smiling and playing with daddy. Your nanny said, during the day, if you started crying like that and she attended to you, you would automatically stop. But during the night, you wouldn't. It seems that, during the night, you would only stop crying if mummy or daddy attends to you. It makes mummy wonder whether you already know that daytime is Nanny time and the Evening is Mummy-Daddy time. Even if you didn't know the difference, I still love how you've adjusted to our routine.

So, my love...happy 5th month birthday. xoxo

Flu Flu Go Away

Dear Mia,

On Friday you spent the day at your Auntie Sarinah's as usual. I'm sure you had a great time as your cousins were there to play with you, plus your Auntie Everly was there to accompany you too. On our way home, we dropped by your Uncle Rahman's place. Although they were on their way out to pick up the girls, we were able to spend a couple of minutes with your Uncle, Auntie and Abang Armand. Armand was so excited to see you that he started kissing you and pulling your pigtails. I don't think he didn't mean to hurt you, I think he was just excited.

On Saturday mummy decided its time to get your first high-chair since you are growing up fast and it gets quite difficult to hole you and eat at the same time during dinner. On Sunday, mummy and daddy assembled the chair and put you in it. You looked all excited when we sat you in it. I'm glad you like it baby.

Unfortunately love, yesterday you caught your first flu. I'm sorry you have to go through the coughing, sneezing and the runny nose but I guess its part of growing up. I know it must be quite difficult for you to breathe at night when you are sleeping hence the reason why you keep on waking up. It is really cute though that you go all softy and manja, seeking for attention because of your flu. Your immune system must be strong since you did not get any fever. I'm sure you'll feel better soon my love.

P/S: Mummy is estatic as now you can sit unaided and you can balance perfectly.

Rolly Polly

Dear Mia,

Mummy is enjoying her proud mummy moment again as you did your first roll over yesterday and I was there. Daddy came home on Friday so that night we had a very small celebration, very small. All three of us, including Uncle Ewan sat in the Lounge and daddy blew out his candle and cut his cake. His cake was a gift from your Auntie Sarinah. It was made of real chocolate made by Caroline, the late Auntie E's daughter. This cake has very special meaning for mummy because when mummy was younger, the late Auntie E used to make a similar cake and mummy could never get enough of it. So hopingly, when you can eat solids, you won't get enough of Auntie Caroline's chocolate cake. Auntie Sarinah was so sweet to order this particular cake for daddy's birthday. I think she knew that I wanted to indulge in it more than daddy. We'll have to give your Auntie Sarinah a huge hug and plenty of wet kisses when we see her okay.

On Saturday, before sending the part time maids home, we dropped by the mall to buy some stationary for mummy to complete your scrapping album. Of course we put you in your stroller and as usual you enjoyed the ride around the mall. We also bumped into your Grandma & Nini Bapa at the hotel coffee house and spend a couple of minutes with them.

On Sunday, we got you all dressed up so you could look adorable for your Mama. You spend time with your cousins, aunties and uncles. Food was yummy as usual and the company was great. The weekend was again, over but the night was not. You woke up early this morning, 5 am to be exact and you just did not want to sleep so mummy ended up entertaining you until it was time for me to get ready for work. Today, mummy dropped you off at your Grandma's as usual but today you will have your own personal nanny. I hope she treats you like mummy does, like a princess...

Daddy's Away

On the play gym

Dear Baby Mia,

It was Daddy's birthday yesterday but unfortunately we were not able to spend it with him since he is in Singapore. Not to worry love, he will be back today so we can spend time with him tonight. Of course, since your daddy is not here, I spoil you a little more than usual. You have been sleeping with mummy for the past two nights and all mummy can say is, "My sweet pea, your officially a wriggler". You wriggle alot in bed but its cute. This morning you woke up before I did and started talking to yourself. As mummy got ready for work, I sat you up in bed and put on your Pooh DVD. One minute you were wide awake watching tv, then as we were about to leave, somehow you had slid down in a lying down position with your eyes closed. You were sleeping peacefully, so I thought. As I leaned down to pick you up, u opened your eyes and started smiling and giggling. I couldn't help but smile. It was like you were playing the fool with mummy, pretending to sleep. It still puts a smile on my face when I think of it.

Time is flying by too fast, my love. You've accomplished sitting by yourself now although you need a little help to put you in the sitting position. You can balance by yourself. Yayyy! Unfortunately, nowadays you are eating less which is probably the reason why you look like you are losing weight...but actually you aren't. You're stretching out. Your grandma weighed you at the clinic the other day and you were only 6.9kg. You normally put on a kilo every month, but this month you've put on less than a kilo. It must be all those sit ups you've been doing.

I love how nowadays when I put you in your seat in the car, you start singing. I always put on Connie Talbot's CD in the car and you just love singing to some of her songs. Apparently you sang to one of Lionel Richie's songs in your Grandma's car too. At four months, I can proudly say you can officially pull down all three of your soft toys hanging over your bouncing chair then you suck on them and you also have a habit now of tapping my shoulder when I hold you yet what really puts a smile on my face is when you giggle when you hear me sneeze or cough. Nothing compares to that giggle of yours.

Till the next time I write my love, mummy & daddy loves you.

xoxo
