8 Months Old Today

Dear Princess Mia,

Today you turn 8 months old. Time is flying by pretty fast and you are learning all sorts through out the days. You can be a chatterbox when you are by yourself. Sometimes mummy just puts you in your cot for a while so you can learn to entertain yourself. A couple of mornings ago, you woke up in your cot (and not in mummy's bed for a change) and sat up then starting talking to your teddy bear. You also started to pat your teddy bears bottom. I like to think you were "Pok-poking" him to sleep. Mummy & daddy love to overhear your conversations when you are in your cot. It never ceases to put smiles on our faces.

Once you get bored in your cot or if you're just too tired to entertain yourself, you would normally stand up, hang on to the rails, start whinning and go "mummmmuummm". Funnily enough, when you are in a happy mood and you're chit chatting to us, you'll say "Papapapapa". Could it be that, if you are happy, you like your daddy but if your sad, you prefer me? One of the latest things you like to do now is lick you lips which you only started doing recently. Its just simply adorable when after taking a spoonful of porridge, you'll just lick your lips then smile. You have also started munching on those Rusk biscuits which you seem to enjoy alot. It makes me smile to see the end result of the biscuit after you've suck on both ends of it.

Your hands have been doing alot of work as of late. You totally understand mummy when I say "clap your hands" or "give me 5". Basically its the two things that you do well when you are told. If only you understood mummy when I say stop whinning. I guess I'm going to have to make you understand the words "Stop it" next.

Mummy has been trying to teach you to wave bye bye for months then finally yesterday during lunchtime while daddy, me and you were sprawled on the mattress in the room, you looked at yourself in the mirror and started to wave...to yourself. It was one of the happiest moments for mummy. Unfortunately, its still quite difficult to get you to wave to us when we leave.

So my precious 8 month old baby who weighs approximately 8 kilos, I can wait to see what new things you will learn over the next month..

Love you my lil one..

Little Madame

My little Madame

Dear Baby Mia,

Alhamdullillah you are now better. That fever gave me a little scare. A day after your temperature went back to normal, red spots started coming out on your tummy & back. I was quite worried until your Aunties said it was quite normal. They told me "Panas nya keluar" so thank God now they are actually gone.

In a couple of months time, you'll be celebrating your first Raya. So mummy is now in the midst of preparing. I now have two babies to think of, you and your daddy. First things first, mummy will have to buy material for all three of us. I am going to make you two baju kurungs. One flowery one, made of plain japanese cotton so you wont feel hot and another one to match mummy and daddy. I think you'll just look more adorable and more comfortable in your dresses, so we will alternate during the festive season. I need to get you nice black shoes, some new socks and hairbands. Ooo...I'm so excited.

Insyallah you'll be having a berdzikir ceremony next month before the month of Ramadhan. If all goes well and we do have the function, it will an auspicious day for you as you'll be able to meet all your relatives.

My love, do continue tugging at your hair and playing with your ear when you're feeling sleepy...it's just the most adorable thing. Daddy has lowered your cot so now its safer for you when you feel like standing up in it. We filled it up with your favourite toys so I do hope now you'll sleep in it. As your daddy says, you are getting a little "manja", especially when you wake up in the middle of the night whimpering for no reason at all. Let's just hope you grow out of that phase ok. I have to be strong and not spoil you too much but how can I not when you are mummy's most precious prized possession. I love you little one.

Fever Number Two

Off to the Clinic

It is a sad today today. Breaking news in Brunei today involves a 12 year old girl who died of H1N1 Influenza today. She already had chronic illnesses and the flu just made it worse. Al-fatihah to the little one. This swine flu is spreading life wildfire and for a small population, we have quite a large amount of H1N1 cases. 93 to be exact. As a mother, I have become very paranoid and angry at those ignorant people who have been suspected of having this disease and are still walking around in public risking contaminating others. I thought, as a small country, we would have been able to control this flu from spreading but unfortunately there are too many irresponsible and ignorant people out there. I thought we would be safe to still go to work, school and even public places but I was wrong. I even heard a suspected person was walking around the ICC at the consumer fair.

I am actually very angry with myself for bringing Mia to the ICC consumer fair last Saturday. I did not assume such irresponsible people would be walking about. I only found out the following day. When Mia started getting a high temperature on Wednesday, I started to freak out. Thursday morning I brought her to the Government clinic and they told me to get a number and wait amongst the many sick people in the waiting area. I looked around and said to the lady that I think its safer for me to go to a private clinic. So off I went to Dr. Asri's clinic. He took a quick look at her, took her temperature and told me not to worry. It's probably a normal fever. Alhamdullillah. Yet, I'm still keeping a look out for any changes in her temperature. Her temperature often rises at night. The highest its been was 37.7 degrees celcius. I put on one of those Kool Fever plasters and luckily it reduced her temperature abit. She neither has a runny nose nor a cough but I can't really tell if she has a headache or any sort of muscle pains. At night she often wakes up whimpering and quickly sucks on my teat for comfort. She still has energy to play in the day time though. I just hope she gets well soon. I ache to see her in such pain. and uncomfortableness. Even my darling hubby saw the worriedness in my face and told me not to worry. Ya Allah, please help my baby girl recover soon.

My Little Muffin

We welcome with love in our hearts, the arrival of Baby Abdul Hapidz Bin Abdul Razak, the first born of my little sister Azimah and her hubby, Razak. Baby Heff was born on 30th June 2009 at 18.28pm at JPMC, weighing 3.555 grammes and 51cm in length. He has got just the biggest adorable eyes and a very sharp nose. I'm sure he'll grow up to be a fine handsome boy, definitely a heart breaker...
