Baby Steps

20th October 2009

Dearest Angel,

Alhamdullillah, you can now officially walk. You have been very active and prefer to be let loose on the floor. Your Grandma says thats all you were doing at her place on Monday, jalan here-jalan there. I guess its a beginning of a new adventure for you. It makes me one proud mama to know that you have mastered walking at only 10 and a half months. Mummy and Daddy are currently trying to slowly move you back into your cot as you always hog more than half of our bed nowadays. Funny thing is you dont sleep in the same position as mummy & daddy. For some odd reason, you like sleeping horizontally. I break it down to the fact that you probably dont like to feel mummy's & daddy's body heat..haha. You are one wierd little peanut!

21st October 2009

Dearest Pumpkin,

Tonight, Mama called looking for you. I think she missed you terribly as she hadn't seen you in quite sometime. Mummy had planned to take you to Tampoi to see mama last weekend, but your Popoh was hospitalized. Popoh is still in hospital, but alhamdullillah she has recovered slowly. As much as it would be nice to take you to see your Popoh, it wouldn't be a good idea love as germs are lurking around everywhere at the hospital. So, instead of waiting for the following weekend to visit mama, I decided to do a flying visit over to mama's for an hour or so before your bedtime. You showed off your new development skill to mama who was very impressed. But what really cracked me up was when mama asked to see your teeth and you opened your mouth up wide..haha..it was just too cute. I think those short and sweet flying visits we make to mama's house are just the best. You and I both get to spend a little quality time with mama, just us three.

23rd October 2009

Dearest Sweetpea,

Today, you got to spend the afternoon at your auntie Chenah's place. Your cousins picked you up and had the whole afternoon with you. When I came to pick you up, you were dressed in your cute little dress and showing off to everyone that you could walk. It was so cute to see you walking in auntie Chenah's living room lugging that big teddy bear around. I'm sure you had a blast with your cousins this afternoon...

Love,
Mummy xoxo

Ten Months Old

Dear little Princess,

You have reached the 10 month mark today. I realized you have grown into a lil'cheeky monkey and I love you even more now. Over a period of a month you have grown 3 more teeth. You now have 5!! Yayy!

I love how you copy what we do. You've been copying us snapping our fingers and its so cute when you do it. Sometimes it looks like you are signaling for money coz there's no sound when you snap your fingers. Now when you play Choop-Ba...you always say the "Baaaa" part which always puts a smile on mummy & daddy's faces. We are so proud of you. Your flying kisses are getting better. At least now you put your whole hand to your mouth. We just have to work on the flying bit. When mummy & daddy come home from work, we try to get you in the routine of giving us a hug and kiss. The hugs come naturally as it seems you miss us when we are at work. The kisses on the other hand, we have to ask for them and you normally place a big wet one on either our cheek or mouth.

Your vocabulary is also increasing. Since your first word was 'Bye', your second word was 'Baby' but I still think you're trying to understand what it really means. I love how you point to other kids and say "baby" which is hilarious since you my love, are the baby. You also tend to point to pictures of babies in frames and say baby. You smart egg you! Recently, you have extended your vocabulary and ask for "nenen" when you want milk and "mamam" when you are hungry. Your Grandma bought you a book the other day on animals and you like to flip through the book most of the time. I have a feeling you like books, well the pictures mostly. Once, You looked at the picture of the rabbit and you tried to copy what I said, but yours came out as "wabbit".

Nowadays I think you're trying out more difficult words that have an F sound in it as well as the the S sound too. The other day you were watching your daddy shoo away the pigeons, so now when you see the pigeons you too shoo them away by saying "fsshhh" with your little finger pointing at them. Its so cute but its even cuter when we are at your Grandma's house and she takes you to the fish tank. You would put your finger where the fish's mouth is and say "fish". I have come to think that this is probably the reason why you have started opening and closing your mouth like a fish.

Lastly, my love, I want you to know that you are an amazing little girl and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I promise my love to teach you to have love for your religion, the importance of patience, the meaning of love and the significance of respect. I also pray to Allah that you will understand the value of education and to always respect your virtue. Always remember Mummy & Daddy will always love you my little angel.

Happy Ten months my love.

Mia's First Raya

This year is Mia's first Raya. First day of Raya fell on Monday, 21st September 2009. As usual on Raya morning, we made our way to see Bapa & Mummy first before they proceeded to Lumut for the day. This year Mia's uncle Rahman did not have to work and was able to bring his 'clan' over after Raya prayers. Mia's Aunty Mamah unfortunately couldn't make it as she had to attend her in-laws Raya morning gathering.

After seeking for forgiveness from both Mia's grandparents as well as my siblings, we made our way to my in-laws. The atmosphere at the Tampoi Manor is always overwhelming. Mia's daddy has 6 siblings, 6 sibling-in laws and 29 nieces & nephews. Its just great being surrounded by a big family, especially the children. After our Raya breakfast & 'ziarah-ing' everyone, we did our yearly first day raya rounds to all the relatives. Normally we would be done by late afternoon but for some reason we ended up finishing late this year. Upon reaching home, we freshened up quickly and picked up Auntie Sue Sue then made our way to Gail's house for a quick visit as we hadn't seen Baby Zara since she was born. Then our final house for the day was Kak'Imah's house who definitely serves yummy food. I say yummy because she always serves Dim Sum, my favourite!

On the second day, we all headed over to mum's place to help her with her open house. People came and went and of course Mia met many many people and relatives. On the third day of Raya, today, after work, we made our way to Uncle Anam's house, Mia's granduncle. Mia had been 'kidnapped' by her Auntie Chenah and Kaka Sofie that afternoon so we met up with them there. We then made our way to Abg Minan's parents house in Rimba before heading home.

P/S: Was very disappointed for not remembering to take a picture of Mia & Mama. Must remind self to take one next time we see mama :)

Grandma's Home

Dear Little Angel Mia,

Finally your Grandma & Nini Bapa have arrived safely home from Vienna yesterday. Since it was a public holiday, we drove over to Grandma's house to welcome them home. Grandma and Nini Bapa were so happy to see you but you acted most strangely when we arrived. When you saw your Grandma, you started crying in tears. Me and Grandma break it down to the fact that you really really missed her but you forgot..until you saw her in person. Grandma & Grandpa brought you back alot of goodies but I realized that you became very impressed and attached to the "Princess storybook". I hope you do learn to love books as I do. The same night we all met up at Charcoal for a "welcome home sungkai dinner".

NINE Months Old Today

All dressed to go out

Dear Baby Mia,

You are nine months old today!!! Its funny how to mummy you turning 9 months seems quite special. I think its because its the same amount of time that you were in mummy's tummy. Yet it seems like the past nine months have flown by quicker compared to the nine months that you were in my tummy. We wont have cake but I think a couple a cupcakes would be better. Less temptation in the fridge since it is the fasting month.

A couple of weeks ago, you cut your first tooth then the second one follow suit. So now u have two teeth..yayy! You no longer have those cute toothless grins..hehe. Daddy finally decided we should re-install the Astro since you really need it so last week once it was re-installed, you have been glued to the PHD Channel. At least you are occupied while mummy & daddy are at work.

About 3 days ago, we were sitting on the couch, watching tv then you started messing with the blanket. You started lifting it up and covering your face then down to reveal your face. A couple of minutes later I realized you were playing "Choop Ba" which just knocked my socks off. It was just soooo cute. It gives mummy such a warm feeling when you do such 'smart' things that I can be proud of. There was this one afternoon last week when me and daddy just left you in your playpen to play then you started babbling the word "bye bye" in that cute voice of yours. At the same time you were waving your hand. I was beyond shocked but your daddy was so proud. I think you are really trying to master your "Bye Bye" as you always wave bye to mummy when I leave for work and you even waved bye to the little girl on the tv who was waving at you. I think this Raya you can just wave to everyone and maybe next year you'll be able to salam everyone.

You still cannot walk yet, thank God! But I feel you're a fast learner and will start walking before you are one years old. Nowadays you like chilling on the couch because you can easily stand up and walk along the couch with the back as support. So basically, by yourself, you can stand up and balance for a minute or so before you fall down. You also know what you want. For instance, if one of us is having a drink, you'll start smacking your lips (with your little toungue out) to indicate you want some.

You learn more everyday baby....

xoxo

Majlis Mandi Belawat & Berdzikir

Alhamdullillah yesterday's event went well. It turned out to be a wonderful day surrounded by close friends & family. Honestly speaking, I had a fantastic time. I was happy. My in laws were there, my family was there, even my grandmother was able to attend. Mia did not cry one bit which made the day even better.

Friday & Saturday were spent doing last minute preps for Sunday. My beloved & I set up the carpets that my mama so generously lent to us in the lounge area on Friday then on Saturday, Mama, Ka'inah and the little munchkins came over to put the gifts into the gifts bags. It was nice having them around making the house feel filled in. Mama then ordered Pizza delivery for everyone for dinner. It just comes to show that even a last minute organized event can be done if everyone chips in a little with their time and effort. Thanks to My mummy, my Mama, my beautiful sister in laws, my sister, my nieces, my hubby...and the rest of the family, the event turned out to be perfect.

While getting ready....

.....Bapa babysat for me...

All done

Sunday morning I quickly dashed to the bridal shop to get last minute costume jewellery for my attire. I then got ready and had Auntie Zaleha do my make up. David Cheok arrived later on. Having David and Auntie Zaleha in the same room brought back memories of my Nikah day. It was nice to get pampered once in a while. Once we were done, my better half, my baby and myself made our way downstairs to the berdzikir ceremony. My beloved brought Mia around the male guests for blessings while I carried Mia around the ladies. It was quite a task carrying "little' Mia around who's not so little anymore but quite heavy. Its no wonder people do their mandi belawat when the baby is 100 days old and not 8 months old...hehehe

Everyone was then escorted outside for tea, coffee & light refreshments. I was happy to be able to be with all my loved ones before the holy month of Ramadhan. A great time to ask for forgiveness so our fasting will be more meaningful. Mia will be 9 months soon....and she'll be celebrating her first raya. I'm absolutely excited..
