Officially Two Months Old

25th January 2008

Today Mia is officially 2 months old and my oh my how she has grown. She now officially has a nickname. All this time we've called her pet names like Lil Miss Pineapple, dubbed by her daddy, Lil Pumpkin, Plum Pudding and Baby. (Funny how most of them start with 'P') But at her Uncle Safri & Auntie Fau's place in the beginning of the year, she was finally dubbed "Mia" by her little cousin, Irshad. We were sitting around the coffee table and Baby Irshad was trying to say her name but instead of Amellia, it came out as "Amiya". Since I've been contemplating to call her Mia anyways, baby Irshad actually beat me to it.

Its actually uncanny that she's to be nicknamed Mia cause during new years eve we had dinner at the empire. The theme was "Mamma Mia". It wasn't really a good night. Though the food was okay and I saw a few old friends, we were seated right next to the speakers and there was constant noise coming out of them the whole night as they were showing the Mama Mia movie. Baby Mia was definitely uncomfortable and couldn't enjoy her nap. Luckily Auntie Mama had a room for us so after dinner we rested in the room while baby Mia had her feed. Unfortunately, baby Mia started crying for no possible reason so we decided to leave. The moment we stepped out of the room and into the hallway, she just stopped crying. Definitely an unsolved mystery.

Friday before last, we had a very jolly morning with Alai Z, Gailee and Nadia at Alai's place. It was a pleasant get-together with a group of pre-natal mothers, one post natal mother and a young, single & carefree lady, well two actually if you include Mia. We arrived at Mia's auntie Alai's place in Berakas around ten-nish and had breakfast. Gail brought Cakoi Salad (yumm!) and Alai made Nasi Lemak special (sluurrpp). We then checked out Baby Z's nursery, which made me feel like an inadequate mother. Alai is only 5 months preggers and she has her beautiful nursery all set up already, I on the other hand is such a lazy bum who hasn't completed Mia's nursery yet. Strangely enough, spending some quality time with Alai had an affect on me. It was a kick up the bum to try and finish Mia's room so, the following Monday (which was last Monday), I finally completed my goal of fixing up baby Mia's nursery. I'll write more on that next time. I really think setting up Mia's nursery deserves its own page. All in all, it was great to be around mothers my age. We get to exchange information on labour, pregnancy, preparations and child rearing. Being the "List-woman" myself, I kept on asking Alai if she had this and that. Apparently that weekend, Alai suddenly started nesting and went shopping for laundry detergent & baby hangers so she could prepare Baby Z's clothes. It just goes to show that get togethers like these are productive.

Last Friday (23rd Jan), we had a little gathering to celebrate Baby Mia being a brave little soul by undergoing her 'sunat'. It was a hectic day for me as I had to coordinate the event & prepare everything to give the lady who did the procedure. Mia's auntie Mimi acted as her godmother and held her. Thank God she only snipped a bit off, baby didn't cry as her godmother fed her bottle straight away but started to cry when some wet cotton wool was dabbed on. BUT all in all, alhamdullillah it went well. Afterwards, I bathed baby Mia in a tub of warm water, just in case...
